Looe - Plaidy - Millendreath - Fowey

Image
Walked down to the beachfront with Olivia before breakfast.  After breakfast left Robert and Olivia at apartment working and headed to Plaidy - east of Looe. Thought we would then forge on to the next bay - Millendreath, although there was no clear walkway, involved careful navigation of slippery rocks! We were at the point of turning back, but Woody shot ahead of us, slipped into a pool, and once I had pulled him out he continued onto the beach. We were left with no option but to continue with the challenge ahead of us in order to get to Woody! Crisis averted and onto Millendreath Beach and the camp ground.  Time to head back to Looe and some well deserved lunch.                       Cornish pastie on the beach! Then it was time for a swim in the English Channel, I’m sure the majority of people on the beach thought we were mad! Water temperature was around 17 degrees. We were the only ones in the water, although so...

Looe

Quiet day in Looe today. Anne and I wandered down to the town after breakfast. No shortage of local Cornish delicacies! We did have a lovely piece of fresh cod for lunch!  Yet to sample the crab sandwich, but it is on the ‘bucket list’ before we leave. Note the moss on the roof - thinking of starting up a Wet and Forget franchise in the UK, reckon you could make a killing!  Left Anne in town and we headed over the bridge to the Woodland Track for a shorter walk than yesterday!  Back to town after lunch and enjoyed the sunshine and seaside. There were even a few brave people swimming! We plan to brave the elements tomorrow … watch this space! Finished the day off with Uno!!

Looe - Polperro

Last night’s Dobble game which got very loud and raucous!!  On Olivia’s advice, we decided to walk the Coast Walkway from Looe to Polperro after breakfast, a mere 4 3/4 mile journey. So we left the apartment in high spirits and walked through town to pick up the walkway.                        Still all smiles at this stage! Things soon became a bit more challenging and steep!                    So time for a rest - Woody agrees!  Approaching Talland Bay we made a group decision to ‘box on’ to Polperro for coffee and scones rather than stop with only 1 1/4 miles to go!                      Loved these cosy snugs at cafe! Finally, we are in sight of Polperro after 2.5 hours! A gorgeous wee town, smaller than Looe, but very quaint with narrow streets, small shops, and lots of cafes selling Cornish pasties and scones ...
