York - Helmsley

 Walked into York after breakfast, less than 10 minutes from apartment.

After booking tickets for Friday we climbed the city walls. The Romans built some parts of the wall as far back as 71 AD.

Then drove to Helmsley, about 24 miles away. A gorgeous small village packed with character and interesting shops!









And a delicious pork belly sandwich for lunch! 😋

A gorgeous day in the North East of England with sunshine and 15 degrees! Making the most of the sunshine before the weather turns.

 Met Olivia’s girlfriend Kate at cafe near Highbury Fields then made our way through the park to the Stadium.  A lovely warm day with 22 degrees, not bad for the 1st of October! Arrived at the Stadium for Women’s Arsenal v Liverpool. Had no idea of what to expect. Not sure about these apartment buildings? Don’t quite seem to fit in with the local landscape … but perhaps that is progress? Christchurch - Home

 It has taken me all this time to summon up the energy and the will to complete the last post of our wonderful journey. The Paris-Singapore leg was fantastic with both of us sleeping and waking up only 3.5 hours from Changi Airport! Approaching Changi we were informed there was congestion and we would be in a holding pattern ... after 30-40 minutes, we diverted to Johor Bahru in Malaysia as we were running out of fuel. This was only a journey of 60km, but we ended up spending 2.5 hours waiting for the plane to be refuelled then back to Changi. By this time we had missed our connecting flight to Christchurch. Singapore Airlines were very organised and had our boarding passes ready for us for Auckland-Christchurch. Although by this stage we only had 45 minutes to get from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 and Gate 29. For those of you familiar with Changi, you will know the sheer size of the place.
