 Local coffee shop (one of many) near apartment. This was a one-man operation, and always seemed to be busy!

Then on to Mercato di Ballaro and an assault on the senses! A large North African influence! But first we came across this Nona and her gorgeous French Bulldog, much to Olivia’s delight! 






After some lunch near the market, it was back to the apartment and down to Palermo Centrale for the troops and their flight back to Trieste. Said our goodbyes to the boys. Will see Olivia back in London on Tuesday.

A great 5 days with the family, good company, food and refreshments, plus plenty to do and see in Sicily!!

 It has taken me all this time to summon up the energy and the will to complete the last post of our wonderful journey. The Paris-Singapore leg was fantastic with both of us sleeping and waking up only 3.5 hours from Changi Airport! Approaching Changi we were informed there was congestion and we would be in a holding pattern ... after 30-40 minutes, we diverted to Johor Bahru in Malaysia as we were running out of fuel. This was only a journey of 60km, but we ended up spending 2.5 hours waiting for the plane to be refuelled then back to Changi. By this time we had missed our connecting flight to Christchurch. Singapore Airlines were very organised and had our boarding passes ready for us for Auckland-Christchurch. Although by this stage we only had 45 minutes to get from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 and Gate 29. For those of you familiar with Changi, you will know the sheer size of the place.  Thursday Markets on Blvd Saint Germain. Then on to The Pantheon before Luxembourg Gardens.  Sculptures of significant individuals around the Gardens. And being a keen gardener, I was very impressed with this system for planting winter flower-beds! In need of coffee and pastries so Jozi Cafe fitted the bill. Exploring near Rue Saint-Jacques around the Latin Quarter.                             Tonight’s dinner spot! Back to apartment for lunch and a rest before catching bus to Musee d’Orsay.
