Palermo - Cefalu

 Saturday 

Train to Cefalu (55min). Lovely old town, smaller version of Palermo, pretty  with narrow laneways and side streets.

Sun had poked through after lunch so we headed to the beach, but no swim today after our big day at Mondell the day before.

Last dinner before Sam, Urh and Olivia head home on Sunday. Lovely meal with a nice Sicilian wine!





Found a pub showing the rugby final … met up with Derek, a mad Irishman who joined us for the game. Plenty of support in the bay from the locals but couldn’t quite get the result. ☹️

Headed back to apartment 12pm, Palermo was just warming up, people everywhere!! 


Another noisy night for us outside our apartment. 💥

Christchurch - Home

 It has taken me all this time to summon up the energy and the will to complete the last post of our wonderful journey. The Paris-Singapore leg was fantastic with both of us sleeping and waking up only 3.5 hours from Changi Airport! Approaching Changi we were informed there was congestion and we would be in a holding pattern ... after 30-40 minutes, we diverted to Johor Bahru in Malaysia as we were running out of fuel. This was only a journey of 60km, but we ended up spending 2.5 hours waiting for the plane to be refuelled then back to Changi. By this time we had missed our connecting flight to Christchurch. Singapore Airlines were very organised and had our boarding passes ready for us for Auckland-Christchurch. Although by this stage we only had 45 minutes to get from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 and Gate 29. For those of you familiar with Changi, you will know the sheer size of the place.  Thursday Markets on Blvd Saint Germain. Then on to The Pantheon before Luxembourg Gardens.  Sculptures of significant individuals around the Gardens. And being a keen gardener, I was very impressed with this system for planting winter flower-beds! In need of coffee and pastries so Jozi Cafe fitted the bill. Exploring near Rue Saint-Jacques around the Latin Quarter.                             Tonight’s dinner spot! Back to apartment for lunch and a rest before catching bus to Musee d’Orsay.
