Gants Hill - Granville Square (London)

 Said good-bye to Gants Hill this morning - spent the last 4 nights here. View from lounge window.


Back to Olivia’s flat in Granville Square (Islington). Unpacked (again!) then walked to Upper Street for grocery shopping … found some pork steaks at lovely butcher shop in Essex Rd then Sainsbury’s for the remainder for tonight’s dinner. The sun was shining when we walked into Sainsbury’s and raining when we got out! Jumped on a bus but still very wet by the time we got back to the flat! ☔️💦

Before this though, we came across Camden Passage, just off Upper Street. A lovely old pub (no great surprise!) and  gorgeous shops. Return visit for another day.




Tomorrow we are training back to Nicola in Newbury before our week in Cornwall. 

Olivia is very excited about tonight’s home cooked  dinner; pork schnitzel, leeks with cheese sauce and roast vegetables!

 It has taken me all this time to summon up the energy and the will to complete the last post of our wonderful journey. The Paris-Singapore leg was fantastic with both of us sleeping and waking up only 3.5 hours from Changi Airport! Approaching Changi we were informed there was congestion and we would be in a holding pattern ... after 30-40 minutes, we diverted to Johor Bahru in Malaysia as we were running out of fuel. This was only a journey of 60km, but we ended up spending 2.5 hours waiting for the plane to be refuelled then back to Changi. By this time we had missed our connecting flight to Christchurch. Singapore Airlines were very organised and had our boarding passes ready for us for Auckland-Christchurch. Although by this stage we only had 45 minutes to get from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 and Gate 29. For those of you familiar with Changi, you will know the sheer size of the place.  Thursday Markets on Blvd Saint Germain. Then on to The Pantheon before Luxembourg Gardens.  Sculptures of significant individuals around the Gardens. And being a keen gardener, I was very impressed with this system for planting winter flower-beds! In need of coffee and pastries so Jozi Cafe fitted the bill. Exploring near Rue Saint-Jacques around the Latin Quarter.                             Tonight’s dinner spot! Back to apartment for lunch and a rest before catching bus to Musee d’Orsay.
