Avignon - Saint-Remy-de-Provence
After a slight panic, we finally found the bus station and Platform 11 for the 10am bus to Saint Remy with 2 minutes to go!
Saint Remy is a 50 min bus ride from Avignon. The town is on one of the oldest archeological sites in Europe. The remains of the trading post of Glanum, founded in the 3rd century BC, and then reworked by the Romans under Julius Caesar.
It is a small town with an approximate population of 10000. The town itself is beautiful, cute and quaint, with narrow laneways and alleys.
And of course the Saturday market. Fancy a rotisserie chicken or some garlic?
Perhaps some cheese?
Hard to walk past a patisserie either without trying some sweet morsel!
It would be negligent of me to be in Provence and not mention Vincent…
Back on the 1.15pm bus to Avignon. We had the same driver, he was very entertaining. Would often talk to himself while remonstrating with wayward drivers, engaged in very animated conversations with some passengers when they entered the bus that appeared to be rather heated at times, although could have been our lack of French? Whatever, a very entertaining bus ride to go with the scenery!
Wow. The food!!
