Slovenia-Italy Road Trip (Day 1)

Left Ljubljana on Saturday and drove to Lake Jasna, in Kranjska Gora.

Golden Horn the mythical Onyx that symbolises Slovenian resistance as he refused to ever be captured.

This is Bedanbc (villain) the storyteller. He told the story of Kekec (Peter Pan) who he chased chased across the mountains but never caught him!

In the winter this entire area is a river

                   Planicka and Olympic ski jumps

Then as we were about to leave the sprinkling system came on, obviously time to dampen things down in the heat!

Then crossed over the Italian border for some shopping in Travisio.  The boys stocked up on cheap items to take back home. Then onto Lago del Predel (still in Italy) 🇮🇹 for a swim - very invigorating to say the least, around 14-15 degrees I would think, but it certainly helped cool the body down!

Then back into Slovenia 🇸🇮 and Mount Mangart - spectacular peaks. These are the Julian Alps named after Julius Caesar

Next stop Bovec for a cool drink 🍺 - mine was a Syrian Blonde. Bovec is a mini Queenstown with lots of outdoor pursuits; hiking, cycling, kayaking and white water rafting .

Then Kobarid where we were stayed the night. Hiša Polonka for dinner and our personal sommelier - Valter Kramar -  checkout the  Netflix series Chef’s Table for Valter’s background story.

A yummy Slovenian sparkling wine while we waited for a table. Didn’t have to wait too long then a lovely Slovenian dinner to cap off a great day in the Slovenian alps!!
