Genoa
Fantastic breakfast this morning (Wednesday); fruits, cereal, toast, croissants, cakes, cold meats, cheese, …oh, and coffees of our choice!
The lovely Marina gave us a map guiding us into the old town so we set off around 9.30 in 30 degrees!
Piazza de Ferrari
And no Italian town or city is worth its ‘salt’ without a statue of Giuseppe Garabaldi!
While making our way into the historic centre we stumbled across Catterale di San Lorenzo - built around 1098!! It was awe inspiring and photos don’t really encapsulate its absolute beauty and craftsmanship … but I will try.
Then on to the Porto Antico and checked out our rendezvous point for tonight’s Food Tour. Badly in need of rest and hydration by this point, so back into the narrow laneways of the historic centre.
While resting and drinking iced tea, I was fascinated by these 2 fellas. From time-to-time they would engage in conversation and the older fella approached the other guy and showed him something on his legs and also interacted with the dog before returning to his spot.
What does one do at 11am … have a beer!
He also had a can of dog food which he opened and fed to his dog. Then it was time for another fag!
Not a bad way to spend a Wednesday morning, beats work I suppose! They were both still sitting when we left. Gotta love the Italian lifestyle!!
We then came across this small place with the guy making pasta. Decided to head inside and look at menu.
After a chat with him, decided we will head there for dinner tomorrow night.
Made our way back to the B&B for a rest before our Food Tour tonight.
Our apartment is on the 3rd floor with the first lot of balconies.
